To You Who Love The Lord
My specific effort is - the attempt to
remind you. A picture is basically a reminder. In your
mind's eye it can cause you to remember from another time. This
picture, on your wall, can help to create an atmosphere of love, and
joy, and belonging, and stability, reminding you and yours of the many
gems picked throughout the years from the Holy Word.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and
a light unto my path."
"Cast thy bread upon the waters, for
thou shall find it after many days."
"I am the bread of life."
"Men shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
"I am the light of the world."
"The time is at hand."
"Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in
heaven."
Time is the second most important thing that
you will ever have in this life. You may be struggling with the
misconception that you have things - Real Estate and lands with its
inherent esteem, responsibility, fluctuating value, and "oh
yes," Taxes - a fine automobile with it's cash back, insurance,
depreciation, and rust - beautiful jewelry (in the eye of the beholder --
and the salesperson) - stocks and bonds - social position - power.
Don't become attached to these. They are only - in passing,
temporary, a vapor. Some are a "thief in the night!"
What you can have is Jesus Christ - and time. What --- will you do
with them?
One more thing - the old man's clothing and
the window curtain. The work shirt with the sleeves partly rolled
indicate that the day of this scene is any one of those days in between
Sundays. Early in the morning, Else the sun would be beaming in
through the window curtain. And he's doing what God wanted the
Israelites to be doing each morning before he sent the Manna down to
them - to recognize that He is God. He said, "Be still and
know that I am God."
And do you know what?
He still has an abundance of Manna up there
if we will only ask.
In Christian Love and in the Holy Name of
Jesus Christ,
